Well, CHOI BARBERS are all up to date with the latest trends of haircuts and they converse well before starting the haircut on what style of CHOIce you want. They are tremendously cordial and despite the fast volume and pace they go at, they have a lot of attention to detail.

I got this haircut from Kuya Joney. I came out looking fresh and feeling like a new chap. I will definitely recommend this shop and will continue to visit for all my future haircuts. Huawei joins Kadayawan festivities through Behind Portait Photography Workshop

After successfully holding mobile phone photography workshops for media and consumers in Manila and Cebu, Huawei paced up modern portrait photography in Davao City last August 19, 2017.

I was very thrilled to be part of the event as Huawei introduced the new Huawei P10 and P10 Plus through Behind Portrait Photography Workshop at the White House Fusion Cuisine and Wine Lounge Davao City.

Distinguished street and human photographer and Huawei ambassador Larry Monserate Piojo facilitated the session and imparted his knowledge on the fundamentals of photography, the significance of tools used and the artistry of portraiture.

The participants were given the chance to try out the new Huawei P10 in the flesh and attested to its superior image quality courtesy of its Leica co-engineered dual camera.

To top these off, one participant went home with his own Huawei P10. That was amazing!

More about the Huawei P10 by Digital Photography Review

The P10 is Huawei's latest high-end smartphone in a more compact form factor compared to the company's Mate 9 phablet. A 5.1" Full-HD display with very thin bezels allows for a design that easily fits into even small pockets. On the inside, top-end components, including Huawei's HiSilicon Kirin 960 octa-core chipset and 4GB of RAM, provide top-end performance.

The Leica-branded camera comes with the same specification as its equivalent in the Mate 9 and combines a 12MP color sensor with a 20MP monochrome chip. Both lenses have an F2.2 aperture and the color variant also features optical image stabilization. As before, color and monochrome image information are combined for better image detail, higher dynamic range and lower noise levels. Other features include laser-assisted autofocus, a two-tone LED flash and 4K video recording.

On the software side of things a new 'Leica-style' portrait mode uses 3D face detection and applies a combination of fake bokeh, adjustable illumination and 'beautification' effects to your portrait subjects. We've put the hardware and software through its paces for our full camera review.

The only image with Monochromatic Bokeh Effect I took during the activity part of the workshop.

Overall, the workshop was very interactive and I learned a lot from Sir Larry. Also, thanks to Ms. Corinne Bacani, Huawei PH Marketing Director for inviting us.

Truly, Huawei P10 is a selflessly designed smartphone and it's one of the commendable upshots I’ve seen lately. The Mate users should probably look elsewhere. And, of course, to everyone else - the P10 is everything Huawei claims to be - beautiful device, capable of both performance and photography.

Siargao Island, A Perfect Getaway

“OH, SO YOU WENT SURFING!?”

My friends repeatedly asked me this when they saw this photo on my Facebook page. Well I appreciate all of their inquiries but to be honest, I wasn't there to surf at all! LOL!

So what did I do in Siargao?

FUN FACT! – Siargao is not a tiny dot in the Philippine ocean, but an archipelago of hundred islands belonging to Surigao Del Norte. The island is composed of municipalities of Burgos, Dapa, Del Carmen, General Luna, San Benito, Pilar, San Isidro, Santa Monica and Socorro.

HOW TO GET THERE?

It was a long and tiring land travel from Davao City to Surigao. When we reached Surigao Port, we had a boat ride to General Luna Port. That was also an uncomfortable situation for us because we were seated almost at the back somewhere beside the boat's motor.

WHERE TO STAY?

Vivo Inn

Intended for both business and leisure travel, Vivo Inn is located in General Luna; one of the city's most popular settings. The hotel lies from the city center and provides convenience to important town amenities. The hotel compromises easy access to the city's must-see endpoints. The hotel offers the best in services and features like free Wi-Fi in all quarters and good room service.

Vivo Inn has 4 bedrooms. All rooms are furnished and has clothes rack, linens, towels, internet access – wireless (complimentary) & air conditioning.

DRAWBACK: NO TELEVISION. Quite sad but hopefully they already have this time.

WHERE TO GO? WHAT TO DO?

Cloud 9

Known for its huge surfing waves. This part of the island is where the annual Siargao Cup being celebrated, both international and local surfing competition sponsored by the government of Surigao del Norte.

FUN FACT! – Siargao International Surfing Competition started in September 1994.

Since I am not really into surfing, I decided to strike some poses around Cloud 9 instead.

Island Hopping

First, Naked Island Sandbar with some greens. Are those water lilies? Not sure.

Next stop, The Daku Island. The word "Daku" means "Huge" in English. But ironically, Daku Island is not that huge. K!

WHERE TO EAT?

Kawayan Siargao Resort Restaurant

Probably one of the most expensive restaurants in General Luna. I suggest you go here in groups. Better to book a table in advance as it is very popular in the evening. Exceptional and detailed interiors, this spot should not be missed. The ambiance, service, and gastronomic experience are really worth it.
